Centennial of the 1918 Armistice
Over the weekend one of my favorite venues down in College Station hosted a World War I Centennial memorial and reenactment. In addition to the museum's French 75, Nash Quad artillery tractor, and probably the best-restored operable FT-17 light tank in the western hemisphere, the Museum of the Ameri...

Re: The Abstract Photo Thread!
I'll have to put up a picture of the SuperChip one of these days.
Made on a 1940-dated lathe the size of a minivan, turning approximately 16rpm and taking a .250 cut with a burnt-out carbide cutter. It was something to see. I've still got a length of it rolling around my toolbox somewhere.

Re: SteamPunk Clothing.
I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but steampunk also seems to be somewhat more idealistic and fanciful in its execution whereas dieselpunk runs grittier and more cynical.

Re: Bombs sent to Democratic leaders
The problem with this story is simple: we don't have enough information, and the information we have doesn't make sense. My first impression - and the one I'm sticking with until convinced otherwise - is the false flag. The timing is suspect. The intended recipients are suspect. The means through wh...

Classic movies you never liked
Despite setting, story, or execution, everybody's got at least a couple of otherwise highly-regarded movies they can't stand. Whether you think it's overrated or outright crap, regardless how much you ought to have loved it...you didn't. Of late I've also developed a theory that most such movies hav...
