The Atari 2600 Thread!

Yeah, VERY old-school! https://photos.smugmug.com/Travel-Family/i-hFWb98n/0/e22ccd97/X2/AtariWarlords_zpsmvduoboo-X2.jpg My daughter and I are playing Warlords on a refurbished 2600 console. This model was designed to accept a composite video input, and a red LED power light that my original model d...

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story

I saw this in the theater, and simply enjoyed it for being an action-adventure movie. I liked Ron Howard's "Willow", so this is similar in feel. I can understand why some fans may not think certain details jibe with the overall continuity, but in this case nothing stood out to me as a deal-breaker. ...

I play a lot of tabletop Role Playing Games and when setting up storylines, I've learned that the campaigns the players remember the most are the ones where the climatic battle was emotional as well as physical.

I'm thinking we might need a RPG thread in this forum... :)

Re: Steampunk dilemma.

Herb, You make a good point about Sky Captain and IJ. Without a common element, a puppet master, giving orders the villain is an empty shell. Somewhere, I read that a hero is only as good as the villain he or she faces off against. A truly effective conflict comes when the opposing forces have a bi...

Re: Books you have read recently.

My dad's gotten into the (good) habit of ordering me books from Amazon, because it helps me read a bit more new material every year. (Basically, I love re-reading books over and over again, so it always takes me awhile to find new stuff. This way, I'm compelled to make time to read the books coming ...

Re: My A-list of high quality westerns

I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't seen most of those movies; usually I try to see as many as I can of a certain genre, especially ones that are the standards of high cinema. But somehow most of these slipped by me. I did love Stagecoach, and I have seen most of Clint Eastwood's filmography. Not so ...
