I Saw This New Firearm!
I Saw This New Firearm!
Does anyone have any thoughts on Ruger's new Pistol Caliber Carbine? It is currently available in 9MM but rumor control states that it should be available in other "Popular" calibers soon.
Re: I Saw This New Firearm!
I think that'll be better than the HiPoint 9mm carbine my dad used to have. Mostly because Ruger builds a better gun than HiPoint does...

Ruger makes good products, with a few exceptions. I'm sure they're illegal here in CA, so I'll only find out if I move to Wyoming (a dream we have).

If it comes out in .40 or .45 I'll be very interested...

Re: I Saw This New Firearm!
It's a good idea, and one surprisingly absent Ruger's lineup in recent years. Excepting some of their older designs, the aforementioned HiPoint family, and the blink-and-miss-it Berettea CX4 there's been a surprising dearth of pistol-caliber carbines the last decade or so...mostly AR derivatives that come with their own drawbacks.
The one I got to shoot was pretty well bone stock, and I got the impression a good reflex or other non-magnified optic would do wonders. Bonus points that you can feed them with Glock magazines, meaning the 33-rd stick and the larger drums aren't off the table.
A Thompson it's not and it doesn't have the cool points of Zenith's HK clones, but I could find a lot of use for one.

I haven't had a chance to fire one yet but I was impressed with the sample that I saw at the gun shop. As Dillo pointed out it can use Glock mags with a provided magazine well insert and it also has inserts to adjust the stock length. It breaks down into small enough parts that it can be carried in a relatively small case. The barrel is threaded for either suppressor or compensator and the top rail can accommodate almost any optics desired.
I thank my fellow gun folk for the input and if I get a chance to fire one I will let you know the results.

I've been considering Wyoming and Montana as an eventual destination. Gotta wait until the divorce is final and the kids are moved out before I give it any serious thought.Blackthorn wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 12:13 amRuger makes good products, with a few exceptions. We have hopes of getting to WY some day, it seems like a paradise at the moment.
