Here is a question for a better legal mind than mine. It seems that the "Steel Dossier" was largely a figment of the imagination of former intelligence operative Christopher Steel. More and more it looks like Steel "Curb stoned" most if not all of the information contained in the document. It also appears that Steel has an incredible anti Trump bias. Just on the surface any neutral investigator would label Steel and the Steel dossier with at most a C meaning: "Significant doubts. Provided valid information in the past", and 6 meaning: "The validity of the information can not be determined". However US investigators doing no due diligence took this C-6 information and went to a FISA Court judge and used it to obtain a warrant that basically gave them the ability to conduct surveillance at will.

The question is this, since the Steel Dossier is being proved fictional and the investigators made no attempt to verify the information, the FISA warrant was issued under false pretenses. Would this not then put everything learned by the surveillance and all developed leads fall under the "Fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine and therefore in violation of the 4TH Amendment?

I am not a lawyer and I don't play one on the internet but that seems to be consistent with my understanding of the legal system. If the source of information is tainted then the entire chain is tainted.

However, this investigation never really had anything at all to do with legalities. There is no true legal issue here, or if there is it's one that every candidate in my lifetime has also committed. This has always ever been a political beast that has been fed and grown. My hope is that Eric's right and that if Trump goes down he's dragging others with him. The citizens of the US need to realize, truly realize and understand, that their government keeps them occupied with trivial 'scandals' while the un-elected bureaucracy that drives it continues to pursue increasing amounts of power and the elected figureheads continue to accumulate wealth and feed their over-sized egos.

Yes, exposing the , for lack of a better term swamp, could be a bright spot in all of this.

That would be the best thing Trump -or anyone- could possibly ever do in office.
